A partner from the start
We bring practical expertise into project development. Together we define goals, the delivery model, our work package and a realistic pilot. We contribute to development, delivery and learning.
We can join as a partner from the start or deliver practical pilots. We bring expertise in urban growing, urban nature and circular economy into project goals and everyday delivery.
Let’s discuss your project ↗We bring practical expertise into project development. Together we define goals, the delivery model, our work package and a realistic pilot. We contribute to development, delivery and learning.
When a project needs a real-world experiment, we design and build it for the site. We agree on cultivation, maintenance, participant guidance and documentation so the pilot produces useful learning.
For cities, universities, research organisations and development projects. We combine practical implementation and participation; our role and scope are agreed for each project.
We agree what the pilot should help us learn and whether we join as a project partner or deliver a defined pilot.
Together we define the site, participants, structures, materials, responsibilities and schedule, as well as monitoring and reporting.
We deliver the growing or green solution and launch activities with the project team and local participants.
We keep the pilot working, guide participants and gather agreed observations, photos and feedback to support evaluation.
We bring together practical experience and recommendations, then agree how the solution continues, moves or is dismantled after the pilot.
Projects have been an important part of Blokgarden’s development. These examples show our different collaboration roles and practical work.
Bringing biodiversity into urban development and everyday life.

We are a business partner in Urban Biodiversity Parks. Our work includes the Jyrkkälä community garden, Luontopesä in Halinen and a moth translocation pilot. We combine practical delivery, resident participation and biodiversity development.
Urban growing and micro-entrepreneurship with students.

In the Viikki Urban Farmer pilot, five students grew lettuce, herbs and other edible plants using Blokgarden growing units. We contributed the practical growing solution and expertise to support the students. The pilot also tested selling produce to local customers.
Hukkapuisto in Suvilahti and a pollinator roof in Herttoniemi.

In Suvilahti, we delivered Hukkapuisto using reused materials and rescued plants. At Herttoniemi metro station, we built a pollinator meadow roof with HumbleBee Housing Project. Both pilots explored ways to bring nature into dense urban settings.
Returning restaurant nutrients to edible plant production.

With Restaurant Savoy, we delivered a circular economy pilot in which restaurant biowaste was processed with a DTS biomixer. The resulting nutrient-rich soil amendment improved the growing medium for rooftop cultivation. The pilot connected nutrient cycling and urban growing in practice.
Community growing as a service for residential courtyards.

We tested a service model that brings growing beds and shared activities to housing company courtyards. The project developed circular and sharing economy services with businesses, housing companies and residents.
