The City of Valkeakoski commissioned a permanent green solution for Aistimetsä, combining a distinctive structure with perennial edible plants. The planting berm offers a place to follow growth and discover edible plants close to home.
02 / What we did
Blokgarden designed and built the berm using timber, stones and growing medium. The layered structure was adapted to its surroundings and planted with perennial edible plants. Longevity and low maintenance were central to the design.
03 / Impact
The result is a striking, nearly maintenance-free green feature that develops with the seasons. Perennial edible plants keep the site interesting in future growing seasons, while the timber and stone structure gives the planting a clearly defined place.
